Learn Different – The New Yorker

Following up from our conference theme last week on “Doing School Differently” here is a fascinating article on how the AltSchool is providing a different opportunity for their students. While each AltSchool looks different, their commonality is how they provide a personalized learning environment, based on standards, using lots of technology to support both the students and the teachers. They also utilize flexible spaces, passion-based projects, and real-life connections to the students’ learning. Very cool article!!

AltSchool is an experiment in big data, responsive lesson plans, and student surveillance. Can Silicon Valley disrupt education?
